Accessing Atlas folders

To enable you to import and export waypoints, track and route files in gpx or kml format to or from Atlas, or any other Atlas based Apps, you will need to access the folders within Atlas. This you achieve by either:

  • Using a third party software such as Diskaid which enables you to connect your iPhone by via USB so that you can access the folders within Atlas

or

  • By connecting your iPhone/iPad/iPod touch via the built-in Atlas server to your computer over wi-fi.
Instructions for the use of Diskaid or the Atlas built-in server can be found in:

These links refer to the copying of Maps into the Atlas Maps folder, but the same principles apply for copying files from your computer into any of the folders described below.

Please note: The Maps folder is only available in RouteBuddy Atlas and not the RouteBuddy Solo or OS apps as these apps are locked and can only contain the maps that were purchased as an in App download

Atlas Folders

When you access the folders within Atlas either via Diskaid or the built-in Atlas server the following folders will be listed: Note: The images show how the folders would look when viewed in Mac OS X but the folder names are the same whether they are viewed on a Mac or Windows computer.

  • Caches – If you have used the caching tiles function to cache an area of online map tiles from either OpenStreetMap, OpenCycleMap or OpenPisteMap they will be stored in this folder. You should not need to do anything with the files in this folder.

Atlas Caches

  • Export – This folder will contain your recorded tracks as well as a waypoints.kml file which will contain any manually added waypoints that you have saved either from search or from manual waypoint placement. We suggest you occasionally save the files in this folder to your desktop both as a back up and also for use in desktop applications. You may also feel at some point that you want to clear out your track and waypoint lists in Atlas so, backing them up means you can retrieve them at a later date.
