RouteBuddy Atlas

Free Download

RouteBuddy Atlas turns your iPhone or iPod touch into a powerful hand-held mapping device, letting you access maps from any location without data charges. By using the iPhone’s built-in GPS, RouteBuddy Atlas can also display your current location and save recorded tracks to your Mac or PC.

Maps for Your World

RouteBuddy Atlas allows you to store maps directly on your iPhone, giving you full access to your maps without data charges – and even without a cellular signal.

The RouteBuddy Store contains a range of topographic raster maps. For the USA these are derived from USGS data and for the UK the RouteBuddy Store now offers detailed Ordnance Survey maps; both are compatible with RouteBuddy Atlas.

Our USGS maps allow you to carry an entire US state on your iPhone, and zoom in to any location at the native 1:24K resolution of the original paper maps. Multiple Ordnance Survey maps can also be loaded into RouteBuddy Atlas, giving you detailed offline mapping at all scales from 1:250 000 to 1:25 000 wherever you travel.

RouteBuddy Atlas also supports two popular online mapping services, OpenStreetMap and OpenCycleMap. These maps require a network connection, but RouteBuddy Atlas will automatically cache these maps allowing you to view them offline.

Maps can be rotated and viewed full-screen, letting you quickly refer to your current location when hiking or exploring the outdoors. RouteBuddy Atlas can also support multiple maps simultaneously, so you can switch between maps to suit your needs.

Location, Location, Location

RouteBuddy Atlas uses the iPhone’s built in GPS to display and track your current location and movements:

If you are using an iPod touch, which does not contain a GPS, RouteBuddy Atlas will automatically use the location of nearby Wi-Fi hotspots to determine an approximate location.

The screen can be locked while tracking, and tracks can be exported back to your Mac or PC in the industry-standard GPX format for viewing in RouteBuddy or Google Earth.

RouteBuddy Atlas requires iPhone OS 2.2 or higher, and can be used with both Mac OS X (10.5 or higher) and Microsoft Windows (XP or higher).
