Route Options

Before you start creating your route, select RouteBuddy from the menu bar followed by Preferences, click on the Route icon and choose how you would like the route to make its choice (see the Set Preferences section for more detail). The Preferences you choose can be changed after you have built your Route and the Route can then be updated with your changes.
Create a Route using Map>Menu
Highlight waypoints in the waypoint list in a Place folder, click Map in the menu bar and then click Create Route. A route will be created and will include all the waypoints you highlighted. Double click the route to bring up the route editor panel and re-order the waypoints accordingly, then re-calculate.
Create a route using the Route Tool
Once you have selected the Route icon from the Toolbar, one of the easiest ways to create a route in RouteBuddy is to:
With the left mouse button:- Click on the point on the map at which you want to start the route (this can be a previously defined Waypoint)

- Double click a point / Waypoint at which you want to end the Route (or before you end the route double click on other Waypoints you want to visit between the start and end). The waypoints will be linked by a light blue line whilst the program calculates the route according to the preference parameters you have set for routing.

- Once RouteBuddy has decided upon the best route, RouteBuddy will snap the route to the roads and waypoints with a bold blue line.

Add some information about the Route
Double click on the new untitled route in the Content Area list and a route editor sheet will appear where you can change the name; add notes and add or move around additional waypoints; link a relevant website URL link to the route. The route editor also shows the distance and duration of the route between waypoints.

Add new Waypoints to an existing Route
Use Search to Find a Location or Use Waypoints to add waypoints manually.

Open the Route editor and click on the + sign to select from a waypoint list a new waypoint to add to the route.

The waypoint will be added to the bottom of the route list.

Highlight the waypoint (or any of the other waypoints) and use the + or – buttons to move the waypoints up or down the route as you wish.

Once the waypoints are in the right order you can click on the flippy triangles to give you a turn by turn listing of directions between the waypoints.

Click on the recalculate button and the route will recalculate.

Remember that you can also change the Routing Preferences to change how RouteBuddy calculates the route.
Uploading your Route to your GPS Device
RouteBuddy Routing gives you all you need to be able to supply your existing GPS device with the coordinates it needs to use the route you have planned with RouteBuddy. Please note that this will only work if your device has the functionality to make it capable of saving Route information. Please refer to your device manual to find out whether it is capable of saving route information. We will continue our work to upgrade the Routing features to supply you with new tools and information to use with RouteBuddy Maps.
