RouteBuddy Ltd are pleased to announce the release of RouteBuddy 2.2, a free update to their powerful GPS mapping program for Mac OS X.

RouteBuddy provides native Mac OS X support for Garmin, TomTom, and NMEA GPS devices – allowing users to manage and display their GPS data using high-precision vector-based road maps.

This release greatly improves routing behavior and performance, and adds support for the SpaceNavigator controllers from 3Dconnexion.

Several cosmetic bugs have also been addressed, and maps can now be purchased directly from within the application.

RouteBuddy allows geo-data to be translated between a wide range of formats, and can import and export data as .loc, .gpx, .csv, .ov2, and .kml.

RouteBuddy 1.5 released

RouteBuddy Ltd are pleased to announce the release of RouteBuddy 1.5, a free update to their powerful GPS mapping program for Mac OS X. This release addresses several compatibility issues with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, and improves performance during routing calculations.

Several crashing bugs have also been addressed, as well as an issue where preference changes may not have been saved.

RouteBuddy 1.4 released

RouteBuddy are pleased to announce the release of RouteBuddy 1.4.

This release adds support for Garmin Nuvi and Zumo devices, as well as beta support for several TomTom devices (including the popular “Go” and “Rider” models).

Data can now be imported or exported in a wide range of formats, including CSV or KML for use with Microsoft Excel or Google Earth. Historically RouteBuddy could import .LOC and .GPX files but now should you wish Import ‘and Export’ then RouteBuddy now supports .LOC .GPX .KML/KMZ and .CSV (Garmin Format).

RouteBuddy’s extended data support is good news for Mac GeoCachers, planners of Walking, Cycling and Driving trips, extended support for Google Earth and for those who wish to download large POI sets of .CSV files such as multiple hotel, speed camera and gas station locations sourced from freely available online content. All data files can be imported into RouteBuddy via easy ‘drag and drop’ and then sent to your Garmin or TomTom device over USB for use on the road or trail.

RouteBuddy 1.3 released

RouteBuddy are pleased to announce the release of RouteBuddy 1.3.

This release provides turn-by-turn routing with visual navigation to waypoints or points of interest. Navigation support includes off-route recovery, and spoken turn instructions using Mac OS X’s built-in speech synthesis.

Route information now includes turn instructions, fractional miles, and the display of road names on mouse hover. A full list of changes for this release is available here.

RouteBuddy 1.2.1 released

This release fixes several crashing bugs, improves performance with large waypoint lists, and provides additional control over routing behaviour.
