RouteBuddy Reviews

Welcome to the RouteBuddy reviews page – a collection of reviews from the online press about RouteBuddy.

Macworld magazine features RouteBuddy

Macworld discusses GPS support on the Mac:

Many GPS units can find routes from one place to another. Give them two addresses, and they can plan a route for you and provide real-time driving instructions. Unfortunately, because of the limited interfaces of most GPS units, entering addresses and locations can be a real pain.

RouteBuddy ($100) can help; it provides detailed street-level maps, automatic route-finding features, and the ability to sync routes and waypoints with your GPS. It also offers real-time map display, the ability to show RouteBuddy locations in Google Maps or Google Earth, full waypoint creation and management, and (for an extra $50) a street map of the entire United States.

MacsimumNews at Macworld San Francisco 2007

MacsimumNews paid us a visit at Macworld San Francisco 2007:

I was down at Mac World Wednesday and stopped by RouteBuddy’s booth. Of all the booths I stopped by at that day I could see the energy from these developers. I use GPS on my ThinkPad to route to locations. I really like this type of software and was very disappointed when Street Atlas no longer support the Mac. I have used Route 66 which is OK, but I was very interested to see this routing software and the new interface they were using. They seemed to be very open to user input and wanted to make their product as Mac software should be. I hope to give them some input soon and I’m seriously looking into trying this product as well as buying a Bluetooth GPS from USGlobalstat too.

If you’re a GPS-using Mac owner, you’ve probably found yourself envying the abundance of Windows software that comes with GPS devices. Sure, Apple’s Boot Camp and Parallels Desktop will let you use your Mac to talk to your GPS, but they’re no substitute for a real Mac app. So Mac users with a penchant for exploration should check out RouteBuddy.

SVM Mac gives RouteBuddy 4 out of 5

SVM Mac reviews RouteBuddy, giving it 4 out of 5.

Since Route 66, Apple’s platform has been forgotten by the publishers of GPS software. RouteBuddy arrives on our platform and is compatible with a small range of GPS ‘walking’ units (Garmin) with USB and with bluetooth models (USGlobalSat) for tracking the route you have taken. You can list restaurants, monuments, hotels and cinemas on your route.
