Manually Adding a Waypoint

  • Click on the Waypoint icon in the tool bar, or use the keyboard commands Ctrl+Alt+W (Windows)
    Cmd+Alt+W (Mac) then click on the map to place a new waypoint.
  • The base of the Waypoint flag should be placed where you want the Waypoint to be.
  • If you want to enter multiple Waypoints, hold down the alt key and click on the map where you want to place each Waypoint.
  • Release the alt key before entering your last Waypoint.

Move or Edit a waypoint

To move or edit a waypoint you need to either:
(this can also be used to change the coordinates of a waypoint when you need to place it exactly on a coordinate that you want)

  • Click on the Select tool in the tool bar and then click on the waypoint on the map or
  • Highlight the waypoint detail line in the Browser view area in the Content Panel or
  • Right click on the waypoint and the contextual right click menu will cone up for to Export, Delete, Rename or show Properties, but it will also have highlighted (selected) the waypoint and you can therefore drag it to a new position.

To Move the Waypoint:

  • Change to Hand tool and then drag the waypoint to where you want it to be (the hand tool will already be enabled if you right clicked the waypoint with the mouse to select it).

To Edit the waypoint detail

Double click the highlighted waypoint to open up the waypoint editor window.

Use the edit panel to:

  • Give the waypoint a name
  • Change the coordinates
  • Choose a symbol
  • Add some notes
  • Add a URL link

The name and the description of the waypoint will be part of the information contained in a gpx or kml file when exported.

Delete a Waypoint from your Place file

Click on the Waypoint in the Browser view area in the Content Panel and use the backspace or Del key to delete the Waypoint.

You can select multiple waypoints for deletion by holding down the shift key whilst highlighting the waypoints.

Delete a Waypoint from your Place file and your Locations database

If you want to delete waypoints permanently from both the Place file and the overall Locations database, use Alt+del or Alt+backspace.
This deletion will remove the waypoints permanently from the RouteBuddy database (Locations) and all Place files in which the waypoints are contained.

Please note that you cannot delete a Waypoint from a Browser view liist that has been generated when using the Search facility.
